4 time champion Tiger Woods goes off at 7/1 in one of his best courses. If you had told me this a year ago I’d have thought it could be true only if he lost his left hand. Woods is saying that he isn’t 100% after his recent injury. He will be keen to get back into the winner’s enclosure. There are many question marks over his recent form but 7/1 is too big a price. Old Eldrick is not a man to be rushed and if Tiger turns up then I am willing to accept his judgement that he is ready for action. Get on at 7/1 all day long.
Kenny Perry deserves a notable mention for having claimed this title no less than 3 times. Kenny is continuously underappreciated for his talent but at 35/1 I am going to steer away from Kenny, largely due to question marks over his eyesight.
Carl Petterson is another former champion who love this course. However, given that he normally goes off at about 400/1 in the exchanges these days I just can’t see the value at 90/1. Carl was in decent fettle at the Crowne Plaza last weekend but I am going to pass on him again.
Value seekers should look at the well priced Ryan Moore. This cool dude from Washington State can be admired for not taking any sponsorship deals but that shouldn’t take any attention off what a fine golfer he can be. Moore is having a very consistent season, with a win eluding him thus far. Moore has a 2nd placed and 10th place finish to his name here and should run well against a competitive field this week. As a young man with plenty of talent and plenty to learn he is an advisable each way punt at 90/1 with Paddy Power or Bet365.
